April 2003- Survey to chart association's web progress

The Parity Internet Online Associations Survey 2003 is being conducted in association with Association Manager Magazine in order to chart the progress of membership bodies in the digital economy.

In 2000, Parity Internet in conjunction with Association Manager Magazine, the UK Cabinet Office E-Envoy and the CBI's Trade Association Forum conducted the survey of the use of the internet by UK associations, societies, institutions and other professional bodies. The aim of the survey was to establish benchmarks for the use of the internet by these organisations.

182 organisations participated in the 2000 survey representing a broad range of sectors. Trade associations represented 65% of participating organisations, with 17% from the charity or voluntary sector, 9% from professional associations, 5% other bodies and 4% were institutions.

The first survey results showed that 97% of participating organisations had a website. However, in 2000, many of these websites were static, often little more than online brochures.

This year's survey will seek to establish how much progress the sector has made in developing first generation "brochureware" sites into fully interactive, professional web services.

All entries will be entered in the prize draw. There will be a grand prize of a stress-free anti-gravity chair for the winning participant. Details of the prize winners will also appear in a forthcoming issue of Association Manager .
